So I am not sure if its the best idea to bring this up or not but I guess this is a good place to do so.
Currently many members of ssfb are or used to be active on a website called aspies for freedom. For those who do not know, aff is an online aspie comunity run by amy and gareth nelson. It was originally activism based, promoting the idea of neurodiversity, that people should not be judged of the basis of neurotype (ie whether they are on the autistic spectrum or not) and that having a different neurotype isnt a bad thing ie having aspergers is just as good as being "neurotypical" (note the quotation marks)
Now the site is less activism based and more comunity and support based.
Recently on the site there has been some, hard times. Long time members leaving in huffs (ha ha black butterfly) and various other things. Problems within the comunity such as Nt bashing (not cool ) and general bitchiness. And yes I am involved.
I think that its an, important question to be asked for any aspie or non aspie . Whats next for neurodiversity? If aff were the pioneers, who are the sucessors? Is aff still strong or does the aspie comunity need to re brand themselves quick? If so how? and how do we achieve equality if thats what aspies and na s want ?
Go for it
